The Meaning of the word “Rabi-ul-Awwal” is the first month of spring.

Rabi’ul-Awwal is the most significant month in the Islamic history, because humanity has been blessed in this month by the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam.

The events are as follows:

1. Saturday evening Study circles about “Know Your Prophet”.

2. Forced Marriage -v- Arranged Marriage event will be held on Wednesday 1 February between 6-8pm.

3. Sisters only Eid Milad-un-Nabi (peace be upon him) event will be held at Makkah Mosque on Sunday 5 February 2012, starting at 12pm. Naats, nasheeds and speeches will be delivered by sisters.

4.  The main Grand Mawlid/Milad-un-Nabi event will be held on Saturday 11 February from 4pm.

The following topics will be covered from the noble life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, (sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam):

 1. From Creation to the blessed Birth – Saturday 28th January

 2. Analysis of the concept of celebrating Milad-un-Nabi – Saturday 4th February

 3. Sublime life style of the Prophet (peace be upon him) – Saturday 11th February

 4. Status of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in Islam- Saturday 17th February

The study circles will start after maghrib prayer, around 5pmtill 6:30pm..

Brothers and sisters are welcome.

Talks will be given by Scholars of Islam and Nasheed/ Na’at will be sung by renowned Na’at Khawan.

Nasheed Artists will also be paying their tribute to the martyrs of Karbala, in particular Imam Hussain (May Allah be pleased with him).

The commemoration of Imam Husain’s martyrdom has been observed by the followers of Ahlul Sunnah for last fourteen centuries. Honoring the memories of Imam Husain other great martyrs of Karbala who preserved the true form of Islam by sacrificing their lives at the battlefield of Karbala(Iraq) on Ashura 10th Muharram 61 Hijrah.

Allah says in the Noble Quran, “Celebrate the praises of God during the Appointed Days…” [Surah Baqara: 203] The Qur’anic exegetes explain that the phrase ‘appointed days’ is referring to the days of tashriq

The takbir al-tashriq is an invocation and it wajib (compulsory) to say once and Sunnah to say it 3 times, out loud for men, immediately after performing each obligatory (fard) prayer starting from the Fajr prayer on the 9^th of Dhul Hijjah(in one’s resident country) up to the Asr prayer five days later (13^th of Dhul Hijjah). This includes the Friday congregational prayer if it falls within these days.  

Women should say the takbir in a soft voice.

The takbir is as follows:

‘Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar. La ilaha illa Llah. Wa Llahu Akbar. Allah Akbar. Wa liLlahil-Hamd.’

‘Allah is the Greatest. Allah is the Greatest. There is no God save Him. And Allah is the Greatest. Allah is the Greatest. And to Allah belongs all praise.’

Eid ul-Fitr prayer will be held at 10:00am.

At Leeds Makkah Masjid, we will have a full night session of worshipping Allah Almighty.

The schedule for tonight is:

9.15pm – Start of the session, with youth reciting Holy Quran and Nasheed.

10.00pm – Isha and Taraweh prayer

11.00pm – Khatam-ul-Quran dua

11.30pm – English speeches by brother Muhammad Umar of Ummah Channel and Hafiz Muhammad Gul of Jamia al-Karam

12.30pm – Break

1.00am – Salatul Tasbih offered with Jamat – a very important prayer during this night.

2.00am – Zikr and Awraad – remembering Allah Almighty and sending salutations on Rasulullah.

2.30am - Salatul Layl offered with Jamat – addition prayers offered during this night.

3.00am – Sehri – food will be served for the Sehri

3.44am – End of  sehri and start of the fasting

3.45am – Final Dua

4.15am – Fajr prayer

Qari Yasir Abdul Basit is the son of a world-renowned Qari, Shaikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad.

The khatam-ul-Qur’an mehfil will be held on Friday, 27th night of Ramadhan (26 August 2011). The 27th night of Ramadan is considered by many scholars as the most likely night of Shab-e-Qadr/ Laylat-ul-Qadr / the Night of Power.

The whole community is invited to this blessed gathering on Friday 26 August at 9:30pm.

The programme will include, tilawat, na’at, nasheed and talks, zikr and nawafil (optional prayers).

The programme will continue throughout the night and sehri/suhur will be provided in the morning.
