Administrator on March 13th, 2009
On Friday 13 March 2009 Imam Hafiz Asim will be returning to Leeds University to take part in an interfaith panel to round up Leeds University Atheist Society’s Perspective Course. The Perspective course entailed speakers from a variety of different faiths coming to the University to talk about their beliefs and to answer questions. During the panel debate Hafiz Asim will join presenters from other faiths and take open questions from the audience.
Hafiz Asim presented a talk on Islam at the University as part of the Perspective Course on 20 February. During his talk Hafiz Asim outlined the core beliefs held by Muslims and discussed the basic pillars of Islam. He discussed in detail Islam’s position on violence and innocent killings. He then took questions from the audience for an hour on a wide range of topics, including women’s rights in Islam, the concepts of Dar-ul-Islam, Dar-ul-Kufr and Dar-ul-Harb, the Islamic state, apostasy and the theory of evolution.
The panel event will be held at the University’s Sports Hall at 7pm and is open to all.
