US Ambassador visits Makkah Masjid

US Ambassador, Robert Holmes Tuttle, visited the Makkah Masjid on 26th October 2006. He came with the mission to liaise with Muslims in Leeds in order to enhance relationship through open dialogue. US Ambassador was met by the representatives of numerous mosques in Leeds and was asked about the US policy on Iraq, the US foreign policy in general and the issues surrounding global, individual and state terrorism.
US Ambassador was also asked to comment on the apparent inconsistency in the US
treatment of Iraq and other countries which pose a threat to global harmony.
US Ambassador, Robert Holmes Tuttle was given a guided tour of the Masjid by Imam of the Masjid, Qari Asim. The Ambassador expressed his admiration for the outstanding architecture and the magnificent calligraphy work conducted throughout the mosque, in particular the calligraphy inside the mosque dome.
