Shaykh Hamza Yusuf
Administrator on September 13th, 2005
It is a great pleasure to announce that Shaykh Hamza Yusuf will be delivering a lecture at Leeds Makkah Masjid on 18th September 2005. Programme will start at 2pm and end around 4pm (zuhr prayer will be performed at 1:30pm). Free Entrance You do not need to buy tickets for this event. Admission to the masjid is, of course, free. However any help towards the cost of organising the event would be much appreciated. To make your donations, you can either donate on the day, write a cheque or pay through paypal. To pay by cheque, please visit the following link and write "Hamza Yusuf Event" at the back of the cheque. Donation details To pay through paypal, send your payments to qariqasim@yahoo.co.uk and write "Hamza Yusuf Event" in the subject. Makkah Masjid Makkah Masjid is a purpose built masjid that was opened in August 2003. It is a three storey building, with the lower floor dedicated specifically for sisters’ use. The masjid has a total capacity of approximately 3000. For this event, brothers will be accommodated in two large halls on the ground and upper floor. A plasma screen will be present, insha Allah, on the floor that Shaykh Hamza is not speaking on. Map for Leeds Makkah Masjid Very good facilities are provided for sisters. For the Shaykh Hamza event on Sunday 18th September, the sisters will have use of the lower floor. There is a separate side entrance which leads directly to the sisters area. There is a larger front hall, and a smaller rear hall. There will, insha Allah, be plasma screens in both halls showing the event as it happens. There is also an adjacent hall usually used for dining, and this area will be available for sisters to use if required. There will be an overall capacity of 1000 for sisters insha Allah. It is proposed that sisters who have young children with them should sit in the rear hall. Please note we are unable to provide specific creche facilities. Although we do have good capacity to accommodate sisters, we would advise everyone (including brothers) to please arrive as early as possible to facilitate entry into the masjid. Doors will be opening at 12:30 pm insha Allah. Poster: Shaykh Hamza Yusuf even at Leeds Makkah Masjid We would be grateful if you can fix the event poster at your local masjid or another place of gathering. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the masjid, or telephone the mobile number as on the poster for the event. Hope to see you there, inshalllah. Jazakallah & wassalam

Following Hamza Yusuf visit I was not able to pay a visit to see the lecture. I am wondering as you had a video link on site did you manage to record a copy onto video? If so, are you selling the video/DVD as I would be interested in getting hold of one please as I have always wanted to see a Hamza Yusuf lecture. I look forward to your response.
JazakAllah

Salaam.
Jazakallah Khair for your kind comments regarding the Shaykh Hamza Yusuf event at Makkah Masjid. This was the second of what we hope will be many more talks given by learned shuyukh in the masjid (the first being a lecture given by Imam Zaid Shakir 4 weeks ago).
As regards the audio/video of the talk, the tapes were handed over to Shaykh Hamza’s team who will have a look at the material and decide whether or not it will be released. If they decide not to release it, unfortunately the talk will not be available for distribution.
We should have more information in a few weeks time regarding this.
Please do not hesitate to contact us either at this e-mail address or the makkah masjid address if you have any more queries.
